The artist

Still studying, still painting

Alvilda Rodríguez Carmona took her first painting lesson in Chicago in the 1990s — well into a life already built around raising four sons and a lifelong career in Cosmetology back home in Jayuya, PR. She's been studying, and painting, ever since.
